Our Conference speakers will definitely help you to“Buck the Trend”
The Honourable Philip Heatley - Minister of Housing
Phil Heatley is 41 years old and the electorate MP for Whangarei, a position he took over from John Banks in 1999. He was born and raised in Whangarei, and completed a Masters Degree with Honours in Engineering before returning to work in Whangarei. Phil's personal interests include carpentry, tennis, boating and fishing. After returning from overseas in 1995, Phil was employed as a Professional Engineer for a NZ Dairy Board subsidiary in Northland. Nationally, Phil was responsible for working on behalf of the dairy industry in relation to the Resource Management Act 1991. Currently the Government is reviewing the Residential Tenancies Act 1986, and is scheduled to review a raft of other legislation including the Building Act 2004, Resource Management Act 1991, and the Local Government Act 2002. We know that rates are a significant expense for property investors and that development contributions assisted to push house prices up, in addition to the tightening of the New Zealand Building Code and strict new laws for new buildings and alterations to buildings. It is rare to have a current Government Minister to present in property investment conferences like this, so don't miss out on the Minister's address. Find out what the Government thinks of these issues and what they are going to be doing about them for us at Conference 2009.
A powerful presenter, and one of this country's most notable politicians, and visionaries. Don't miss John Banks at Property Conference 2009 as he will provide an opening address, share some of his stories and philosophies, as well as give an update on Auckland - the Supercity, where many are widely tipping him to be the first Lord Mayor of Auckland (with all of its fragmented councils united under one umbrella). Register now to hear a special presentation from the host's city Mayor, the Right Honorable John Banks.
Dr Fred Grosse was one of the most popular speakers at the 2008 NZPIF Conference and has agreed to come back to inspire conference attendees again in 2009. Born in New York, not only does Dr Fred Grosse have a doctorate in clinical psychology, but he is also an ordained rabbi. This eclectic blend of learning has given him a unique insight into how the mind, body and spirit all play a part in lives we lead and the success we attain. He expresses frustration at seeing too many people spending too much time trying to make a living and not fulfilling their destiny. He equates working for a salary with slavery, saying the worker becomes addicted to their pay cheque at the expense of living the life they want to. The ideal he promotes is for people to identify what makes their “hearts sing” and create the wealth needed to allow them the freedom to fully engage in it. His goal is to teach people to create wealth early in their lives, enabling them to create the lives they want.
Martin is an independent business and financial consultant, advising clients and speaking at seminars throughout Australasia on all aspects of business and finance. Martin set up an importing and manufacturing company before becoming joint editor of Moneyline, an independent commentary on business, law, finance and investment. He currently writes as a columnist for the New Zealand Herald, and regularly writes for a number of other publications. Martin has an amazing gift to be able to communicate financial information very well as a presenter or as an author. His three previous books on family trusts, property investment and taxation were immediate best-sellers and have featured on the New Zealand best-seller list almost continuously since their publication. He is the national president of Save the Children New Zealand and on the board of the Community Trust of Southland. Martin’s presentations are direct, simple, relevant and, most importantly, impart valuable financial and investment messages for all who attend. Martin writes regularly for the New Zealand Herald, as well a number of other publications. Like Olly Newland he is also a prolific author with some of his best-selling titles including:
Martin's presentation to NZ Property Conference 2009 will contain the highest quality information and be presented in Martin's easy to understand, straight-forward relevant manner, from which all attendees will gain much benefit.
ANZ National Bank is the largest financial institution in New Zealand, and Craig is backed by all of their significant resources. Its businesses are: personal banking and wealth management, mortgages, small to medium business, consumer finance including credit cards, corporate banking, institutional banking, investment banking, trade and transaction services including cash management, international payments and clearing, custody services and trade finance, foreign exchange, global capital markets, global structured finance, corporate financing and advisory, and asset finance comprising UDC in New Zealand and Esanda in Australia. Since interest costs on loans are usually every property investor's greatest expense, hearing from such a high level banker is a must to educate yourself further. If you want to learn more the key economic drivers of the market, where the market is likely to be in the future, where interest rates are heading, how banks calculate them, whether you should fix or float, and bank's current lending policies, be sure that you do not miss out on the knowledgeable and loquacious Craig Moffat at Property Conference 2009. Saturday's Breakout Session Presenters The property investment story of Liz Harris will inspire many. She began investing in property in 1984 with the purchase of a house converted into four flats. She now has a portfolio of properties in Christchurch housing nearly five hundred people and other property investments such as car parks. Over the last nine months, she has continued to add to that portfolio as opportunities, which have not been around for a while, have presented themselves. A recent purchase has been the former Nurses’ Home in Nelson, which she is turning into a 180 room boarding house and apartment complex. Over the years, Liz has not been to any property investment seminars and has only read one book on the subject. Her wealth of experience has been gained by being involved in a wide range of property investment projects. She has much to share with those who attend the 2009 Conference.
He is the Author of the popular book, Property Tax - A NZ Investors Guide, and is a regular speaker and commentator on property tax matters. A successful commercial and residential property investor himself, Mark's investments include the Red Monkey Lodge in Ponsonby, which is a 13 room boarding house that he runs with his wife Karen, and a holiday home in Lake Tarawera.
Martin is highly sought after for comments on the Auckland property market and there is daylight between his company and the second best apartment seller in Auckland. He is regularly heard on New Zealand's leading radio station Newstalk ZB, commenting on the Auckland property market, particularly the Auckland Apartment Market. Any investor serious about understanding what has happened to the Auckland apartment market, what is likely to happen to it, and how to make serious money from it, should register for Conference 2009 on the basis of Martin speaking alone! His rentals and management team work alongside the sales team covering the full gamut of residential apartment service. City Sales also specialises in investment properties, providing advice as to where the highest returns can be made and managing the property for you if you wish. City Sales has earned the right to be the obvious choice for interested buyers or vendors, renters or investors looking for representation in the Auckland apartment market. Sunday's Breakout Session Presenters
In February 1999 he stepped out on his own to form “Valuit Assets Appraisals Limited”. Valuit completes depreciation apportionments for property investors. Since 1999 Valuit has grown into the largest company in NZ specialising in depreciation apportionment, with nationwide coverage. The Inland Revenue Department ("IRD") has thrown in many hurdles and stress along the way, but Steve has continued to develop the business and make adjustments to processes and reports where necessary, and importantly kept his sense of humour. In July 2003 with Valuit basically running itself I moved to the Hawkes Bay with my Wife and Daughter, now two daughters, to enjoy a lifestyle away from the Auckland hum. Since moving he has been focussed on creating and building “Property InDepth” a residential valuation firm with a very big difference. He has as his business partner in both Valuit and Property InDepth, Steve McNamara, a former London merchant banker, now a land and building valuer. Steve has a strong drive around educating investors and owners on how to take full advantage of the services offered by the valuation profession. He is not afraid to step out and be vocal in an industry that has in the past been very subdued and as a result under utilised. For the 2009 NZPIF conference Steve Tucker & Steve McNamara will be presenting at a breakout session to educate you on why you shouldn't always listen to your accountant, and how you should be claiming depreciation nowadays, including:
He has amassed a wealth of experience in a comprehensive range of commercial and residential property legal issues. Tony is a successful commercial and residential property investor and takes great pride in educating investors on the traps and pitfalls in property law, and is the right man to have in your team if you ever have a property law problem.
He graduated with law and science degrees from the University of Auckland, was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand by the Chief Justice, before finding his true calling in property investment. He worked and gained further knowledge at the Hybrid Group with property analyst Kieran Trass for just over a year before branching out and focusing on contract property development services for investors. Over the past 5 years David has been responsible for the development of over 160 minor dwellings and townhouses in the Auckland region for his clients which include investors in the UK, Australia, Japan, Singapore and the USA. He has also negotiated and purchased over 20 million dollars worth of residential property for investors over the past few years, and constructed millions of dollars worth of housing and renovation projects. David is a firm believer of adding value to properties and he has used this with every property he has bought. He shares the strategies that made him a millionaire in his 20s, and what he is doing now in his 30s with his own portfolio designed to optimise cashflow and equity, and provide an "alarm-free" life. Come to NZ Property Conference 2009 with us, to get information from David's vast knowledge set, presented in his straight forward, easy to understand fashion. David will give attendees ideas as to how they can fine tune their property portfolios and their mindsets for extra cashflow and equity. |
