ALLAN SCOTT FAMILY WINEMAKERS In 1973 Allan Scott planted some of the original grapes in Marlborough. Two years later he planted the family’s first vineyards supplying grapes to the regions’s emerging wine industry. Allan and Catherine later established their own winery which now produces a full range of wines especially suited to Marlborough’s gravelly soil and sunny climate, still proudly owned and run by the whole Scott family. Son Josh is winemaker, younger daughter Sara is the viticulturist, while Victoria, the Scott’s elder daughter looks after the marketing. Their restaurant, “Twelve Trees”, has become one of the most popular lunchtime venues in Marlborough. In summer the shaded courtyard, with its fountains and topiary, provides a cool oasis for guests, while in winter the cosy interior and open fire creates a warm welcome. With the great seasonal menu featuring fresh Marlborough produce and the Scotts’ famous wines, it is an unbeatable combination. Jacksons Road, RD3 Blenheim.
